Peebles was gorgeous as always in the Autumn light. The wood fair was very well attended and has expanded since we last went. Big Si was making broomsticks at a very fast rate. I chatted to him before the rush. Beech, rowan and yew all in their best outfits.

The following week we spent with friends in and around Edinburgh. Although we did sample some city delights such as the Portrait Gallery , the Chocolate Tree in Bruntsfield and charity shops galore, mostly we spent time searching out the quieter corners. My personal favourite is Dr Neil’s Garden in Duddingston. Another favourite place for cake is The Secret Herb Garden.

On the Way home we visited the waterfall behind Bruar mega complex shopping centre. You can guess which we prefer. There is also a picture of Duddingston Community orchard and a view of the river North Esk which runs past the Three Hares Community Woodland and on to Roslin Glen.
