F.A.Q.

What finish do you use on the jewellery?

I use a mixture of Tung nut oil and Ecowood oil (a blend of natural plant oils and beeswax). There are no synthetic solvents in either, they are purely natural products.

What if I don't have or don't want to use a credit/debit card?

E-mail your order details including address and phone number and I will reserve the piece(s) for you for seven days to allow time for you to send a cheque to the address I will provide you with.

Can I phone you to discus my order?

I work from my private family home, I do not wish to receive phone calls from abroad at unsociable hours due to the time differences, but if you wish to speak to me, e-mail your number (including area code) and I will call you back OR leave a message on: 07752 978624.

Do you post to overseas addresses?

Yes. You can pay through Paypal even if you don't have a Paypal account. I can ship anywhere in the world (see postage and packing rates).

How long will my order take to arrive?

Unless I am away on holiday orders are dispatched within 7-10 days. The delivery times are dependent on Royal Mail 1st class or international services.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Postage and packing (shipping) costs

U.K. £2.50 per order, First Class Recorded Signed For. Orders over £100 sent Special Delivery at no extra cost.

Europe, £5.00 per order, International Signed For (insured).

Rest of the world, £7.50, International Signed For (insured).

N.B. Rates shown are standard per order, so buying more than one item at the same time does not incur an additional charge.

How can I pay?

I accept payment using the following cards through Pay Pal or, if you prefer, contact me by e-mail to send a cheque, or to pay by credit card over the phone.

Payment cards accepted

-----------------------------------------------------------

Do you charge VAT?

No. There is no VAT or tax of any kind chargeable on my prices.

Can I buy more than one of any particular design?

As all work is individually hand carved I do not usually hold multiples of the same piece. However, if you wish to order more than one, email your requirements and I can make them for you, subject to the commissions waiting list.

Do you make items to commission?

Yes, see commissions page for details.

How long are the necklace & pendant cords?

Necklaces come on a waxed cotton cord approximately 45cm (18") in length and pendants 50cm (20"). If you want a different length of cord or prefer leather, write this in the message box on the order form and I will supply the length you require.

Do you offer wholesale or trade terms?

Due to the fact that each piece is individually hand carved, I can't supply large quantities to retail outlets. However, should a shop or gallery wish to purchase some of my work to sell, I will offer a discount on larger orders. Please e-mail for details.

What if I don't like the jewellery when I see it?

I offer a full refund (less p & p) on any item if returned unused in its original packaging within 14 days of receipt.

Can I wear the jewellery in the shower/bath/sea?

Although the work is soaked in waterproof oils for 24 hours in the finishing process, it is better to get into the habit of removing it before immersing yourself in water so that the finish is retained in good condition for longer.

Is the jewellery easily breakable?

In normal everyday use the work should not get damaged. However, as some of the pieces are very thin and delicate they may be damaged by rough handling so it should not be given to young children and should be removed before bed or physical contact sports.

What if the cord breaks or wears out?

I offer a cord replacement service. E-mail for details.

I'm worried about deforestation, especially the rainforests - where do you get your wood?

I am a passionate tree lover so I never use new rainforest or tropical timbers. My wood is mostly in British hardwoods and comes either from the off-cuts of furniture makers and musical instrument makers, from garden ornamental trees thinned in maintenance or from re-used/re-cycled sources.

Can I visit your workshop?

Unfortunately, the access to my property is difficult and currently subject to a legal dispute so I am unable to officially welcome customers.

How and where can I see your work in real life?

If you live in or are visiting the UK, I exhibit and sell my whole range at a number of shows around Scotland (now in England too!), mostly between April and December. A limited range of my work is also available through a small number of shop/galleries. See "Shows and galleries" page for latest details.

I am allergic to silver - do you offer other fittings on earrings?

I can fit gold, platinum or surgical steel wires/studs to any earring design. E-mail for details.

I don't have pierced ears, can you fit clip- or screw-on earring fittings?

Yes, but I have to order them first. E-mail for details.
